This hands-on session is tailored for those eager to delve into the world of collaged 3-D diorama artworks using hand-printing techniques and found textures. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, join me for an enjoyable journey of creativity and self-expression.
As it is the weekend of the Bournemouth Writing Festival, I thought it would be good to create something on a literary theme, and as I love’The Owl and the Pussycat’ by Edward Lear, I thought it was a great theme to choose.
DATE: Saturday 28th April 2024 12-3pm
PRICE: £35 including all materials - paper, paints, diorama box, print making equipment, glue and tape and other materials needed for the session.

THE WORKSHOP
We will be working in a specially dedicated area in the inspirational Makers Store in Bournemouth Town Centre.
The first part of the workshop will be free and creative, where we will use hand-printing techniques in acrylics and other water soluble paints, to build up a range of textures and patterns.
We will use these elements and combine them with found ephemera that I will provide, such as old maps, vintage cards, art papers etc, to create the diorama, All you have to do it turn up, experiment a little, learn new ways to make beautiful textures and patterns into visual elements and have an enjoyably creative afternoon. Plus of course, leave with your own beautiful owl and the pussycat diorama.
I will have plenty of reference aids and stencils on the day for all aspects of the topic. We will attach the elements we have made to stand away from the background, making the finished artworks into a lovely 3-D diorama to celebrate a wonderful piece of classic British nonsense poetry.
If you look through my website you will find plenty of examples of the kind of dioramas I create using these techniques, and also plenty of imagery for the Owl and the Pussycat! These are the kind of effects and end results we will be creating.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
In the Makers Store in The Avenue Shopping Centre in Central Bournemouth. Enter up the stairs right opposite the HMV store or by lift which is at the end of the lower walkway of the Avenue.. by pressing the floor one will take you directly into the Makers Store.
There is a cafe in the store for refreshments and an accessible toilet.
I will be there to meet you from 10 mins before the session starts. The Makers Store is open from 11am - 5am that day.
CANCELLATION
I need 72 hours notice for a cancellation, and can offer other dates to rebook the session if this time frame is followed. Any cancellations that are received less than 72 hours before the session starts cannot be reimbursed in this way as I need that amount of time to attempt to fill the space.
